I reused my corset pattern which I made for my Elsa/Sakura Cosplay and started with the lining. I usually do that first and use my lining as my mock up.
After everything fits, I traced the pattern onto my main fabric and started embroidering. This is actually the first piece I ever embroidered. I used the designs from the Netflix Show Shadow & Bone as a reference. This costume is not supposed to be a Kefta, I only took some inspiration from it.
Now it’s time to start the boning.
I use ’spiralfeathers‘ for it. You can find the link to amazon on the left side and place them into the lining, so I can have a clean looking front side. Sewing lining and main fabric together is the part I hate the most 😀 After that it’s time for the eyelets!
For the ribbon I used a red/gold one, which reminds me totally of christmas. It’s a bit thick and tbh not sure if it was the best choice :’D
Lets make the dress <3
Tbh there’s not much to say here. I followed the instructions from the pattern and altered it at some points. After the main dress was finished, I trimmed everything with gold!!
Okay, let’s do the main part of this whole cosplay. Btw. I only had 2 weeks left for the jacket and crunched the whole costume in 1 month.
Again I remember starting with the lining of the upper part of the jacket. Afterwards I cut out the main fabric and made the sleeves. My final enemy will always be the lapel collar (Reverskragen). We hate each other and I guess I will never figure out how the collar really works, BUT I managed it and am happy how the lining and the collar looks together.
I found these buttons, which look like the Ravka symbol <3 I used them for my jacket and made this kind of ornament with gold ropes. I really like this small detail.
Next thing was lining the upper part of the jacket to the main fabric and I am incredibly proud how I did the lining in the sleeves xDD It took me hours to figure it out and it just looks so professional!!
I improvised the lower part of the costume and added lining. In the end I used different golden lace to clean the edges of the sleeves and do the hem of the jacket.
Comtessecosplay did some embroidery for me which I glued on the main fabric of my hem.
Thats it for Nina <3
